Game night tonight! We found ourselves back at the

Game night tonight! We found ourselves back at the reef playing Tidal Blades by @druidcitygames.

This is a very cool looking worker placement and dice game that'll have you gathering resources and cards. You can also attempt challenges that will allow you to boost your character traits to make you better at various aspects of the game.

You can unlock new unique abilities, or more powerful versions of your cards. Or you can upgrade the number of dice you can roll or refresh.

In-between rounds you get the chance to upgrade your dice for more powerful versions. This will make those challenges easier, but also make it easier to take on the massive monsters that are attacking your home islands.

Miraculously I managed to eek out a win despite taking a bit of punishment for not fighting monsters in the last round of the game. Definitely looking forward to trying the 2nd expansion when it arrives.

Shifting Seasons is an expansion to the excellent village building game Villagers by @haakon_gaarder. The base game has been a firm favourite of mine since I first played it a few years back.

Another one for the #52weeks52newgames challenge. Belive it or not, I'd never played El Dorado before last week. The lesson learned is if it came to it, I'd probably get lost in the jungle. 🤣

Very excited that postie has just dropped off some more Graphic Novel Adventures from @vanrydergames.

As a child I used to love the old fighting fantasy books from Ian Livingston so it's very nice to try a modern version of those books. The comics are so vibrant and they offer a real challenge, (especially the Sherlock Holmes ones!)

I'm looking forward to exploring these comics in the coming weeks!

Been playing some Betrayal! This is one of my #52weeks52newgames that I've tried this year.

I've never been the biggest fan of betrayal. I've played 2nd edition a lot and with one or two exceptions generally it's been OK but nothing spectacular. There were some really great games and a few stinkers too. It always seemed to be up to the winds of fate as to how much fun we had.

I've been playing 3rd edition recently and it seems like an improvement on 2nd edition. It's still not my favourite though. I think I'd much rather play mansions of madness if I wanted to play a spooky house game.

I've just been sent a copy of Volfyirion from @tabula_games by @zatugames to take a look at.

I am looking forward to giving this a try tomorrow as I was very impressed by another of their games, Sanctuary: The Keepers Era. After a quick flick through the rules this looks like it could be a very fun deck building battle game.

We had an awesome games day yesterday. We started

We had an awesome games day yesterday. We started off with some epic Twilight Imperium where my tree people came in dead last. We had a great time of it though.

Next on the slate was a little betrayal at the house of the hill. I'm still feeling out this new edition but it seems pretty good, besides the rulebook which still has some rough edges that can cause the game to come screeching to a halt.

Lastly, we had a game of Foundations of Rome. Oh man, does this game look incredible! We tried a few of the expansion modules and I would say the trade and stealing module is essential. It adds in some much needed player interaction and helps keep your options open.

We had a great day and it was nice to sit down with some friends that I don't get to see that often and just relax. Here's to the next epic games day!
